The Census bureau is going to be hiring for many temporary jobs for the 2010 census in the United States. If you have been planning on applying for one of these jobs, it is a good idea to sign up to take the census jobs test as soon as possible. In many cities, the Census bureau has actually already hired a lot of their casual help.

Of course, in most cities and towns throughout the US, they will be staffing up throughout the year, as projects require new staff on an on-going basis. One way to make sure you are one of the folks to get hired is to make sure you pass the employment test. Fortunately, the Census Bureau makes this pretty easy. All you really need to do is use the Census practice test to get a good idea of what to expect.

When you take the real test, you will find it is very similar to the practice test. In fact, many of the questions are the same, they are just phrased differently. Since the census test is a timed test, lasting 30 minutes, one excellent way to prepare with the practice test is to also make sure you time yourself. So set your alarm clock for a half hour and then see how quickly you can get through the test questions.

Once you know what to expect, taking the real census test will be a breeze. Once test day arrives, allow yourself about two hours. While the test itself only lasts 30 minutes, you will need to time to fill out paperwork and someone will also expect your identification to make sure you are eligible for employment. You also want to allow plenty of travel time so you won’t need to worry if things don’t quite go according to plan.
