The Kindle eBook reader has been taking the world by storm with its latest releases. Now with more features and functions than ever before, it is being used by many people with a wide range of interests and needs. With all of the hype and publicity it has been getting though, will the Kindle eBook reader really live up to your standards?

There are actually two main models of the Kindle eBook reader that are available for sale today. The first of which is the Kindle 2. It features a 6 inch display screen and can store up to 1,500 books. It’s highly functional and affordable, and is great for anybody on the move.

The second model is the Kindle DX. This costs more money, but you get a 9.7 inch screen that makes it much easier to read long blocks of text, as well as work with reports. It also features a larger storage capacity of 3,500 books and features auto-rotation display capabilities. Even though it’s larger, it’s just as thin, at just barely a third of an inch thick.

You get much more than just these technical specifications though with the Kindle eBook reader. For example, you have direct access to the Kindle Store, which has more than 400,000 books for purchase. That means in the span of a minute you can have any one of hundreds of thousands of books available at your fingertips.

You can also enjoy free book samples that let you read the first chapter of the book to see if you really want to buy. Many books even come with the “Text-to-Speech” feature, which actually has your Kindle portable eBook reader reading to you, so you can enjoy more content in more situations with less hassle.

Additionally, with the Kindle eBook reader you get free wireless access, which means no additional monthly charges or costly plans. This is a great way to get the most out of your money and be completely worry free as you use your handy new gadget whenever and wherever you’d like.

So if you’ve heard all the hype and have been debating making the move for yourself, then it’s time to give the Kindle eBook reader a shot. It’s highly functional, and has a great deal of user friendly features.

In general, I found the Kindle Portable Ebook Reader to be by far the best electronic book reading system I’ve seen to date. Unfortunately, the store did not have a very good selection, and someday I would love to view a color, high-resolution display screen with the same weight and battery life. (I can dream, can’t I?). There were a few minor nits: I’m not thrilled with the cover and the keyboard does respond a bit too slowly. Maybe more importantly, I’m a bit troubled that Kindle uses a proprietary format for its electronic books – it does lock you in to a particular system. Even though you can email yourself word files and some PDFs (which it changes into its format), I would like it if it could at least read standard PDF files.

However none of that is all that important. The Kindle is just a very nice unit to use, and the choices and advantages of the store is sufficient so that I can imagine a lot of people eager to benefit from it. It’s particularly appealing for book lovers, and for men and women like me who travel a lot and have extended commutes: it’s quite a bit easier to carry a 10-ounce ebook reader compared to a single big hardcover book, and with a Kindle (or a Sony Reader for that matter), you are able to carry a lot of books with you. At $399 (with no fee for the wireless access), it’s not low-cost but in line with what people spend for an iPhone or the top power iPod. In fact, in many ways, the Kindle reminds me of the first-generation iPod, that was not the first portable digital music player and was less sophisticated than coming generations, but had the hardware, software, and store integration done better than any of its predecessors.

I do not anticipate Kindle ebook reader or ebooks will ever really take the place of real books – there is something just right about the physical form – but the Kindle is a surprisingly remarkable tool. It has the potential to truly jump-start the electronic book war.

I am a lefty. Due to the fact that we live in a right hander’s world, like any lefty, I have had to adapt. Unlike most left handers, I am close to being ambidextrous. I play golf right handed, I bowl right handed. I was a left handed pitcher in baseball but was a switch hitter. I could pitch softball either left handed or righty. My son is lefty all the way and is very good at it.

Left handed golf clubs are actually designed and created in a different way from those built for right handed players. Making a left handed golfing club requires more than just moving the shaft to the opposite side of the head. The entire club needs to be engineered in the mirror image of a right handed club. Every single part of a left handed golfing club needs to be specifically engineered and manufactured for the lefty..Left handed golf clubs designed for girls and children are even more specialized. You can find left handed golf clubs in complete and partial sets and individual pieces to suit your wants.

Those that are left handed know that in large part this is a right handed world. Since the population is made from only eight to 15 p.c left handed people it is problematical finding clubs that fit comfortably. This is the reason why it is so great that left handed golf clubs are actually offered. The leading manufacturers of right handed golfing clubs have at last spotted that the market for left handed golfing clubs is significant enough to in which to make an investment. The market isn’t just made of up people who are exclusively left handed. Some people are left handed for some things and not for others. There are some widely known professional golfers who golf from the left but are right handed in the other things they do. Phil Mickleson is a notable example. I am the opposite. I am a lefty but play righty.

When buying left handed golf club sets one thing it’s important to take a look at the flex of the club. The flex is the capacity of the shaft to bend as it makes contact with the ball. The flex will have a massive impact on the distance and directional accuracy as the ball travels. There are 5 differing kinds of flex : regular, women, senior, stiff, and x-stiff. Make efforts to determine which sort of flex is perfect for you before you invest is a left handed golf club set.

RC Submarines: For Kids, Large and Small

When I was growing up, the thought of a model that could be controlled underwater never entered my head. I have just finished viewing video about remote controlled submarines (RC Submarines). That blows my mind. When I consider that the US Navy has a transmitter called Jim Crick that is supposed to reach submerged submarines. The problem with this is the transmitter has to be extremely highpowered and on a low frequency. It is received by ship or sub telegraph and is painfully slow, letter by letter. Today’s RC transmitters use UHF frequencies and have a range of around 100 feet.

There are radio controlled models representing just about any full-size vehicle that you could imagine (and a few you cannot). That includes vessels for underwater exploration. RC Submarines vary in size from little bathtub or aquarium toys for in-home exploration to submarines that are as big as your bathtub designed for deep sea (or at least deep lake) exploration. The submarine model hobby includes both static models meant only for display and radio controlled models that are intended for fun on and beneath the water. Like different RC vehicles, RC submarines have a hand-held controller that communicates with an on-board receiver enclosed in an exceedingly water-tight compartment. Though the on-board electronics are built to be water-tight and submersible, the controller could not be. So you shouldn’t jump into the water to rescue your rc submarine with controller in hand.

RC submarines may be purchased as Ready-to-Run (RTR) models or you can build RC submarines from kits (unassembled) or from scratch. The two main groups of RC submarines are toy subs and hobby-grade scale models. There also are RC working subs that come back in radio controlled and remote management models. These research vessels are used for underwater photography and scientific exploration and are typically engineered for a particular purpose. These aren’t your typical RC submarines that you get at Wal-Mart or your friendly hobby shop. Ready-to-Run RC Submarines embrace both novelty toys for children larger ones for not-so-small boys. This includes many elaborate RC submarines which will provide hours of entertainment for adults.

At the lower end of the value scale, these submersible toys typically have a limited range, might or might not appear as if real, full-size submarines and embrace different submersible toys like RC sharks. Basic functions embody mounting and down (diving) and turning. Not all toy subs are meant for kids. Fancier subs with more authentic detailing, bigger range, static diving systems, and upgradeable options can generally set you back several hundred bucks. These RTR subs might be sold at toy stores also hobby outlets and online. The Ocean Scout Micro RC Submarine is an example of a toy RC Submarineappropriate to be used in a bathtub, aquarium, or tiny pool.

The Motorworks SeaWolf Class Submarine is another pool or pond-sized sub created to seem like real U.S. Navy subs. Clear the pool with an RC Shark that even features a controller which will go underwater. Hobby-Grade Scale Model RC submarine are (usually) accurate models of past or present military or research vessels or fantasy subs like those from books or movies. Not only do they have the design of their full-size counterparts, many also have abundantly more realistic options together with torpedoes propelled by compressed gas, lighting and working hatches, ballast or dive tanks that take on and expel water to facilitate diving and resurfacing (static diving systems). Usually these types of RC submarines are built from kits or from scratch though some could come in almost RTR versions. The value of building these RC subs can climb into the thousands of dollars.

For those of you that have started your Christmas shopping early this year, here are my picks as low priced wireless laptop computers. A couple of years ago, no one would have thought about finding a new wirelesstop that was in the $300 range, yet here they are. Let me be the first to tell you these are not game playing systems. With that in mind, you can rest assured they will provide service ahead of what you have seen in the past. As a bonus, these machines are delivered with Windows 7, normally a cost to you of $199. They are real bargains.

The Compaq label, that HP has more or less relegated to the budget bin, doesn’t get a great deal of attention (or reviews) anymore. But that’s the buyer’s gain because HP has quietly been delivering some good values under the Compaq label.

At different times over the past year, Wal-Mart and various other stores were briefly selling Compaq laptops for below $300. The Compaq CQ61z is one of the new Windows 7 models with a 15.6 inch (1366×768) display. It starts at $399 and is basically sited in netbook territory with a 2.00GHz AMD Sempron M100 processor, 2GB of memory, ATI Radeon HD 4200 integrated graphics, a 160GB hard drive, It also sports the LightScribe DVD burner and is delivered with Windows 7 Home Premium sixty four-bit version.

One system among my picks as gifts in last year’s holiday guide, the Dell Inspiron fifteen is additionally a sensible deal at $399 but it has Intel integrated graphics. Integrated graphics doesn’t offer as high a level of performance (2.20GHz Intel Celeron 900, 2GB of memory, 160GB hard drive and DVD burner). Currently Best Buy’s least expensive 15.6-in. laptop may be a Toshiba Satellite L500 wireless laptop computer series with models that starts at $449.99. Like several other low-priced laptops, the Compaq CQ61z has its trade-offs. The design seems to me a bit bland, and the performance won’t set any new records. The battery life will be relatively short. However, if you’re on a short budget, the Compaq CQ61z offers quite a lot more than equally-priced netbooks, and can a better alternative for many users like students.

RC Planes and RC Cars Can Be A Rewarding Hobby

Wikipedia defines “hobby” thusly: “A hobby is an activity or interest that is undertaken for pleasure or relaxation, often in one’s spare time. I personally think a hobby is a great thing for a child to have. It encourages research, as well as creativity. It is a very healthy way for one to spend his or her time.

“As your youngsters get older, they may gain a deeper interest in many activities, some of them not at all what you might wish for them to have. A hobby might help to deter them from the less than desirable activities.

A great hobby that can be both educational and worthwhile is that of remote controlled planes or the RC cars and RC submarines. As they get older, they may very well become interested in the more complex issues of remote controll. This can manifest itself in a more technical area or a higher level of RC cars or planes. The follow-on from the “toy grade” is that of the “hobby grade” car. These cars feature actual engines that are fueled by a combination of gasoline and oil or, if you actually take a bigger leap, nitro methane, methanol and oil. The “Nitro” cars are usually larger than their electrical counterparts and have some real engineering innovations. Everything from the body work to the engine or the suspension and wheels which will be more finely tuned or fully switched out for higher running gear.

These cars feature high powered radio frequencies with enough power to maintain control at a greated distance. It should also be noted that these cars are designed with an older audience in mind mainly because of the speed they will attain. A number of these nitro cars have been known to reach speeds of up to one hundred mph. The gas powered cars also come in several varieties such as street and dirt. Dirt cars are significantly different from the road cars in that they need a good bit of suspension travel due to the terrain they cover and often look like dune buggies with large rear wings. The street cars look more like their actual real-life counterparts and don’t feature knobby tires either.

If you are going to be involved in this hobby with your youngster, be sure that they grasp the idea that this can be a hobby that will take time and ability to get the maximum level of pleasure from. They probably will find it necessary to learn how to repair crash damage to the components of their RC plane or RC car and will have to take a lot better care of all the components and tools of a gas powered car vs. an electric one. The RC vehicles are almost out of the toy class and are actual machines and need to be treated as such.

If you get to the point where you do offer your son or daughter an RC car on at least just one occasion in their life. If they learn to love it, they may wind up getting interested in an exceedingly rewarding activity that can keep them occupied and having fun at the identical time as well as serve as a lifetime interest.

Depending on your child’s age, you’ll have to make your mind up which type of vehicle is best for them. Whatever you go with, it will all be worthwhile when you see their face light up the first time they get their hands on it.

You will find clubs in the larger communities that gladly offer guidance and advice in the pursuit of this hobby. These clubs schedule events and fly-in events for its members and for the public. My son is over 40 and he is still building RC planes from kits. He belongs to a club and in fact introduced me to this past-time when he gave me an indoor RC helicopter. It can be a source of real fun and comradeship for the family.

Windows 7 launch date finally arrived and Windows 7 is now available. Have you done your homework? Is your desktop computer capable of running Windows 7? Do you care? If you care, take time to confirm your preparedness.

The first retail computers to come preloaded with Windows 7 were available on launch date. Shopping for one of the cheap desktop computer, in all probability isn’t the ideal upgrade method and, in step with an Engadget review of such a system, might not even be worth the price anyway. There’s another alternative, and that is to decide the flavor of the day version that Windows 7 can have.

The first option is the Starter configuration, and that is the most restricted one. If you happen to study the connected Wikipedia article as I did, you’ll see the Starter column of the Windows 7 editions comparison table is disturbingly crimson in hue (Missing items) and severely lacking in features.

You won’t get multi-CPU support, it only comes in the thirty two-bit version and just about excludes everything you could ever want in an operating system. The sole issue is you’ll get stuck with this edition if you purchase the one of the desktop computer
deals from a maker of the cheap computers.
Since the Home Basic edition is only going to be available in “rising markets” such as Bangladesh and Brazil, you most likely won’t concern yourself with that version either.

The next step up for $200 retail and $120 upgrade costs is the Home Premium and is likely what most of you will end up with when purchasing retail PC systems. This edition supports most of the options people could wish for with the main exception of multiple physical CPU support and Windows XP mode, Win XP mode may be key in that a good percentage of the software aps that are XP compatible may not be immediately able to run with Windows 7. Designed-in file encryption and Microsoft’s Remote Desktop hosting will also be missing, however most individuals probably won’t pay
any attention to that or care either.

Up from the Home Premium version is the Professional version and will run you $200 to upgrade and $300 for the full version. Except for upping Premium’s maximum physical memory support from a paltry sixteen GB to a much more impressive 192 GB and embracing 2 physical CPUs, Professional can conjointly enable backup and restore to a network and add the missing file encryption and XP mode along with a smattering of alternative options not many others will really use. You would probably notice the added convenience of location aware printing, however that’s simply for the most mobile of workplace users.

The last two editions are pretty much identical, except the Enterprise version is for volume licensing and Ultimate Version is for retail and OEM setups. You’ll have to ask Microsoft about specific Enterprise deals, since I did not look into that aspect. Ultimate does retail for $320 and only costs you $220 for an upgrade. What this suggests is that for the “Ultimate” entitlement, you’ll be forking over an extra 20 bucks for some Microsoft-run networking services and that sweet, sweet multilingual user interface.

There’s also the Unix subsystem software, BitLocker drive encryption, and Virtual Hard Disk booting, however if you’re into those types of doings, then you already know your way around and don’t need me telling you about it.

Now, you have seen what all is available, there’s only one real query left: Is it really worth it? That sort of depends on you, your needs and your wants. You would be spending a ton of cash for some software that you most likely haven’t ever used before and probably don’t need. Having read the Windows 7 beta and RC reviews, I can say this new version of Windows is leaps and bounds ahead of what Vista has to offer, however I’m not certain it’s worth the extra dollars it will set you back.
Apple’s Snow Leopard brought along compatibility problems with older software, and you will find even fewer programs capable of working with Windows 7 once you compare it to going from XP to Vista.

If you’ve really want to be on the cutting edge of technology and I usually do, then opt for it, as there are some pretty sweet pre-order deals (some that go as low as $30, such as the student version.), but I have decided I am probably going to wait for the first service pack, letting someone else can
discover and fix the problems. I’ve got enough aches and pains as it is.and don’t really need to undergo them myself. Still… there is that feeling of wanting to be an early adapter. There is something about being among the first to try something, but I want to try it on one of the hot Intel Duo Quad processors. What I need is for the best desktop computer deal to come along.
