Notebook reviews must contain all the information about the laptop. I am jotting down the important ones; make sure you don’t skip through any of these features while reading a review.

Display: See the resolution of the display in notebook reviews. I ideally, a 14-15 inch laptop has 1,366×768 resolution whereas anything above that has full HD resolution. If you are buying a big desktop replacement laptop (these start from 16 inch and up) it must have a Blu-ray player and must offer full HD resolution of 1920×1080 pixels or 1080p.

Keyboard: If you are a business user and are going to type a lot, check what’s written in notebook reviews about the keyboard. I use my notebook for updating my blogs so I type a lot. I have used loads of laptops in my labs and have found that chiclet styled or island button keyboards are the best. Weight: Notebook reviews always write about the weight of the units. I wouldn’t recommend anything but a Netbook if you travel a lot but don’t expect stellar performance from tiny Netbooks. If you are not going to travel at all or intend to get a laptop just for home use, a desktop replacement laptop is your best bet. If you wish for fast power and still want something that is easy on the shoulders check out the 15-16 inch main stream laptops.

We have seen about eleven hours of battery life in Netbooks but 6-7 hours of battery back also makes an excellent Netbook. Any thing below that is not recommended.

Here’s a shopping tip that you should use when you examine that bargain you have uncovered in your shopping exploits: Some computer manufacturers have replaced dual-core processors with single-core Pentium and Celeron processors to reduce costs in the face of the sluggish economy.  Several manufacturers have begun offering lower-priced desktops and laptops that on the surface look like full-performance systems.  But many of these models use the less powerful and less costly Atom processors that are found in small, inexpensive netbook, or mini notebook computers. 

If you grab one of those “bargains” there is a good chance you will find yourself frustrated by their sluggishness when you try to surf Web sites that have a lot of media content, watch videos, or play 3D games. It doesn’t matter if you plan to run Windows Vista or the new Windows 7, Microsofts new operating system, the higher-performance processors will almost always outperform lower-performance processors such as the Atom. The bottom line is when looking for your main desktop computer, or your primary laptop computer for general purpose computing, stay away from computers with single core processors such as some Atom and Celerons, and less than 1GB of memory.  If you are looking for a low cost Netbook, mini notebook computer, choose a model that uses an Atom processor and has 1 or 2GB of memory, and at least a 160GB hard drive.
