			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>If you don&#8217;t feel that things are going your way in life and maybe for a little while you felt unhappy or perhaps depressed, then it&#8217;s easy to find yourself saying &#8220;<a href="http://howtofindhappinessnow.com/had-a-bad-day-feeling-down-turn-it-around-and-get-happy/">I&#8217;m having a bad day</a>&#8220;.</p>
<p>The problem is, that sort internal dialog can sometimes become a self fulfilling prophecy. If you tell yourself that you&#8217;re having a bad day often enough the chances are not only will you look for evidence to back that up, you&#8217;ll also find it.</p>
<p>Things don&#8217;t always go smoothly or as planned and maybe you&#8217;re not having an ideal day but more often than not it&#8217;s the way you choose to look at things that determines the way you feel.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s a really good idea in these circumstances to break the negative state of mind and here are some suggestions:</p>
<p><strong>Concentrate on your breathing.</strong><br />
Sit still and focus on nothing else but your breathing. Take a deep breath all the way in, hold it and then let it out slowly. Repeat the process a few times concentrating only on your breathing and feel relaxed as the tension is released.</p>
<p><strong>Go for a walk.</strong><br />
If you&#8217;re at work get up from your desk and walk to the water cooler. As you walk their pay closer attention to your environment and look for new things that you hadn&#8217;t noticed before. If you&#8217;re at home, just pop outside for a minute or two and breathe the fresh air as you walk around your garden or yard.</p>
<p><strong>Give yourself a massage.</strong><br />
Okay so you&#8217;re not going to get a full body work-up, but you can do something simple like give your self a head massage or even in a massage. Just a minute or so spent doing something for yourself is a great way to clear your mind and get back on track.</p>
<p>After that, perhaps you can return to the events of your day and re-frame them. Re-framing is simply seeing the events from a different angle and giving them new meaning, hopefully a positive meaning. Things are not always what they seem a good way to discover this is to ask yourself the question,&#8221;What else could it mean?&#8221;</p>

Yes it’s no surprise that kids like the food. Fast food tastes great; however, it’s not great for you! So instead of scoring brownie points with your kids by buying them fast food, why don’t you attempt to instill healthy eating habits? </p>
<p>The earlier you start to instill healthy eating habits the better the results. If your child gets accustomed to eating fast food, it may be a rather difficult transition. Therefore it is necessary to start this process early in life. Lets first point out that there are countless options for healthy cooking at home, and your child can absorb this information by helping you with the preparation of the meal. This way your child will build healthy self esteem and healthy eating habits. </p>
<p>As for the meal itself, be sure to give your child a small portion. You do not want to scare the youngster by placing a huge plate of spaghetti in front of him/her. Also remember not to force your child to eat and don’t rush your child through the meal. Furthermore, a very important aspect of instilling healthy eating habits in children is to make the meals visually pleasing. Make dinner time fun and creative. And try not to push too many healthy foods onto your child because he/she may start to build a hate relationship towards the forced foods.  So if your child illustrates poor eating habits, try a few of these techniques to improve their diet. </p>

<p>As a Personal Trainer, I&#8217;ve been witness to the stories told by clients of their hard work in the gym and their struggles outside of the health club. It&#8217;s true, the other 23 hours of the day that you aren&#8217;t in the gym can completely overwhelm the efforts you&#8217;ve put into exercise, especially when it comes to choices of nutrition. </p>
<p>The following tips are those that have been most successful for my clients and athletes in overcoming some of their damaging nutritional habits. </p>
<p><b>Healthy Eating Tip #1</b> </p>
<p>Don&#8217;t drink your calories &#8211; Okay, so we don&#8217;t eat liquids, but they are a critical part of your overall nutrition. If you have never looked at the nutrition label on the side of even a small bottle of juice, I am sure you would be surprised to find that the figures for calories and for carbohydrates (basically sugars) are through the roof, especially when you consider the servings per container. </p>
<p>Although some juices do contain a good amount of vitamin quality, it is usually not enough to offset the influx of calories that you&#8217;ll be taking in. The important point to remember is that these calories are &#8220;empty calories&#8221; and won&#8217;t be used effectively by your body as fuel to help build muscle or to burn fat. </p>
<p>Water is almost always your best choice. </p>
<p><b>Healthy Eating Tip #2</b> </p>
<p>&#8220;Surround&#8221; Yourself with Healthy Snacks &#8211; Don&#8217;t literally surround yourself with snack food (you might eat it all), but do take a look at what is included in your snacking options. Are there lots of high calorie, high sugar foods? Or do you have a healthier mix of fruits and vegetables stored within reach? </p>
<p>What I&#8217;ve found is that if there is a bag of chips anywhere in the house, I&#8217;ll eventually find it and I&#8217;ll eat it. Most people are the same. </p>
<p><b>Healthy Eating Tip #3</b> </p>
<p>If you enjoying eating at restaurants for any meal of the day, whether it is breakfast, lunch, or dinner, you may have found that individual servings could often feed a family. </p>
<p>Instead of forcing yourself through the appetizers, main course and dessert, ask for part of each course to be wrapped up right away. That way, you&#8217;ll be able to enjoy some smaller portions and you&#8217;ll have some tasty leftovers for the next day. It&#8217;s a win-win. Oh yeah, it helps, too if you order something nutritious in the first place! </p>
<p><b>Sticking To It</b> </p>
<p>One of the reasons that people give up on their goals is because of a lack of results. Oftentimes, a lack of results stems from a lack of consistency. <p>Are you living a healthy lifestyle, or would you like to? Either way you are well aware of peer pressure to eat foods that are not part of this healthy lifestyle. <p>You will probably find parties and other social gatherings play a major role in the peer pressure effecting your healthy lifestyle, especially if alcohol is involved. One way to overcome this is to offer to drive them to a bar instead. Suggest “going out” and since you will be the designated driver, they will not want you to drink. <p>Another situation where you may feel pressured to eat is at work in a meeting where the boss has ordered lunch for everyone, or even when you may go see a client where they have supplied lunch. The only solution to this is to politely decline. It may even be easier to inform your boss or client in advance that you will not be eating. You can even pack a healthy lunch for yourself and take it along. </p>
<p>Even if you are good at resisting temptation; Birthday parties, baby showers, weddings and other special occasions can be hard on your healthy lifestyle. What do you do when someone hands you a piece of cake and will not take no for an answer? Little white lies may be appropriate in these kinds of situations. You may for example explain to them that your stomach has been upset earlier and that you do not want to risk having a piece of cake, this will convince them to keep the food away from you! You may even go as far as to say that you have bit of a chocolate/nut/dairy allergy depending on the food been offered to you. </p>
<p>Remember that it is fine to say no to bad foods because of peer pressure, but you must take careful note of the foods that you refuse – You must continue eating healthy foods. If you start saying no to food in general then dangerous eating disorders can develop which will give all you friends, family AND doctor a good reason to worry! </p>
