Enjoy Your Jog With Music
In my town, there are not a lot of areas for jogging and going around a track wears out my mind before it does my body. You can not let being bored by your jogging routine prevent you from exercising, though, so you need something to make jogging more exciting. A good idea is to get some headphones and an MP3 player for listening to music during your run.
In order to have fun listening to music on a portable music player, you have to have the right headphones. Jogging involves lots of moving around and bouncing; often people complain about their headphones not staying on or in their ears along with complaints of the signal dropping out.
You can find headphones that are meant to be used by active people who jog and play other sports. This style is designed to stay on or in your ears through a full range of motions. Many of these exercise friendly headphones come with an in-ear sound isolating system so they stay securely on your head using a loop design that is worn over the ear. The only problem with the added isolation afforded by well-designed earbuds is that they can impair your ability to hear things going on around you. If you miss the sounds of an emergency vehicle or someone trying to warn you of a danger ahead, you risk being injured.
Along with earbud style is the traditional can style headphones. These days they are lightweight and comfortable enough that you may use them at other times you use your MP3 player. These jogging headphones help filter out noise from around you and deliver a larger sound-stage but all headbands will not work with all heads. What holds well for you when jogging might not work for a friend and vice versa. Ask your friends if you can try out their set or ask others you know who run with phones on. They will understand your concern as they have probably already experienced the same dilemma which resulted in them having the phones they have now.
When you are jogging, you are bouncing and moving and your arms are in constant movement as well. That makes wireless headphones a great choice for your running needs. Wireless phones transmit sound from the portable music player to the phones through radio frequency signals or infrared transmitters. When you use a set of these you don’t have to worry about the cord for the headphones getting in your way as you jog. Instead of having to watch your arm movements so you don’t damage the cord or pull the headphones out you are free to move as much as you want. This allows you to keep your player anywhere on you and not just within comfortable reach of a headphone cable.
If you do like to keep your player within easy grasp so you can read the display, then I recommend you also get an MP3 armband. They wrap around your upper arm and are secured with velcro with an exterior pocket or case for inserting your audio device. Many players have corresponding MP3 armband holders which have open spaces that correspond to the buttons on your player for easy interface manipulation. These are typically available from the company that produced the player and are often promoted on fliers inside the box that your MP3 came in when purchased.
Whatever you choose, I think you will enjoy the pleasure of adding a soundtrack to your jog or workout.
