Extra Retirement Money For Seniors

Senior citizens are getting to the back of their closets and cupboards and discovering their hoarding all these years is the golden egg the goose laid years ago.

When we hit a certain age and find we have been led to retirement, we often find it came too soon to survive without the larger paycheck. Insurance premiums and taxes come due and social security does not cover it. The task is then to find a home job that will supplement the retirement pay.

Many seniors have turned to marketing some of their little treasures they have had in storage for so long they do not even remember why they kept them. Collectibles are big business, and the older ones are getting harder to find, which means they are selling for a lot of money. China, maritime artifacts, maps, tools and countless other bobbles are of interest to collectors year round. If you have an old lure, it is not unusual to expect a couple hundred dollars to come your way from a fishing lure collector.

The biggest holdback by most seniors in selling collectibles and antiques is the fear of learning how to sell the collectibles themselves. That fear does not have to stop you from marketing your treasures. Choose an alternate method of marketing your old things. If you are afraid of the computer and selling on eBay, you do not have to. Many little shops remain open and for a small commission sell others antiques, clothing, collectibles and other items. You are the decision maker as to what you require for your item. The marketing rep does the work. Keep in mind that you may also have a friend or relative who already sells online and will be perfectly willing to market for you too. This leaves you to go to the yard sales, auctions, swaps and flea markets to hunt down your next paycheck!

Do marketing old things really turn a coin or is it just hype. A good example of the values of old things is to view a few at an actual old folk’s site. Taking a few lessons on what to look for and what to sell will help you increase your own chances of getting the best price for your collectibles.  Learn something about your own old items.

Senior citizens all around the globe are finding their old treasures worth money at a time when money is scarce.  Collectors do not seem to know when times are bad and buy when they see something they have to have in their collection. A senior’s moment has finally come, and it is in a the form of a golden egg paycheck!
