Finding Cheap Young Driver Car Insurance
Finding cheap young driver car insurance is a tough job. A young driver has no driving record and the insurance companies are leery in insuring a young driver without a stiff premium. Insurance companies utilize statistics when determining premiums.
According to their statistics a young driver is more aggressive on the road. Aggression in the guise of speeding and tailgating, to name a few specific criteria, will cause more claims to be filed. The greater the chances of a claim being filed the higher the premium. In addition to a young driver being a greater risk in costing the insurance company money, the young male driver is more prone to be aggressive than a young female driver. This is not to say that a young female driver cannot be more aggressive than her male counterpart, but statistics are usually accurate.
However, there are ways to make the young driver car insurance cheap in a relative sense. This would entail the young driver taking a Driver’s Education Course while in school. In addition, the young driver should use the car for going to and coming from school almost exclusively. Believe it or not, good grades in school, according to insurance company statistics, means less claims filed. The young driver should take school studies seriously.
After a couple of years, when the young driver has driven carefully and defensively and filed no claims, the premiums will drop. One other way to keep young driver car insurance at a management price, would be to purchase an older car. An older car requires less insurance. The older car does not have to be insured with collision (crashes) and comprehensive (fire and theft) coverage. These two categories make up a large percentage of insurance premiums. Time, patience and defensive driving will inevitably result in a lower premium for a young driver.
