There are many forms of ceramic hair straighteners that have been on the market for many years. Throughout time, there have been hair straighteners such as straightening combs. These are metal combs that heat up, and of course are designed to straighten the hair shaft. These were especially popular in styling African American hair. Women also used to straighten their hair with actual irons used for clothes! It’s a much safer option for the hair, and for the body than using a common iron for your clothes! The flat iron can also double as a hair curler as many of the flat irons actually have beveled sides that allow you to curl or flip out the hair. In order to curl you entire head of hair, you just twirl the hair around the wand of the flat iron for full, loose curls, or a bump at the crown of the head.
