Hair Straighteners For Gorgeous Shiny Hair

There are many forms of ceramic hair straighteners that have been on the market for many years. Some of the hair straighteners are made with metal plates called flat irons, and others actually use a type of metal roller to straighten hair. But before these fantastic beauty tools what did women use to straighten their hair with?

Throughout time, there have been hair straighteners such as straightening combs. These are metal combs that heat up, and of course are designed to straighten the hair shaft. These were especially popular in styling African American hair. Women also used to straighten their hair with actual irons used for clothes! They would lay their hair on an ironing board, and go over their hair with an iron. This of course wasn’t the safest way to do things, but women wanted the long straight hair that was in style and that was the only tool that could actually get the hair to be as straight as possible. Can you imagine today having to use an iron for your hair?

Thank goodness, the modern flat iron came on the scene such as the solia flat iron. The flat iron doesn’t involve an ironing board, or running a hot iron by your face to get burned! It’s a safe hand held wand with two flat plates that heat up to a temperature that you designate. Many have regulated temperature gauges to assure you don’t scorch or burn your hair. It’s a much safer option for the hair, and for the body than using a common iron for your clothes! The flat iron can also double as a hair curler as many of the flat irons actually have beveled sides that allow you to curl or flip out the hair. In order to curl you entire head of hair, you just twirl the hair around the wand of the flat iron for full, loose curls, or a bump at the crown of the head.
